Yoga Class Descriptions:

Absolute Beginner - for the uninitiated and curious. An introduction and overview to the fundamentals of yoga practice. One class per week for 5 Saturday classes. Absolute Beginner is offered each season. Registration for our Spring Session has begun and classes will run each Saturday from May 1st until June 5th. (Please note: come prepared for a workout and begin to develop muscles you may not have known you had. Some of the postures you will be introduced to may prove challenging.) Please be aware - for our Fall and Winter Absolute Beginner Sessions available space for the classes ran out and people were turned away. We will only be able to guarantee your reservation with pre-payment.

Gentle - for anyone seeking a slower, meditative experience. Postures are approached with great care and allow the student to gradually explore their flexibility at an unhurried pace. Recommended for students with recovering injuries. No previous experience necessary.

Basics - for new yogis. The basic postures of yoga are explained and explored with an emphasis on alignment and breath.

Mixed Level Kripalu - Kripalu Yoga is a holistic approach to the practice of yoga that reflects a synthesis of traditional styles.  Each class includes pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation and asana (postures).  Emphasis is on a compassionate practice, working within the body's own limitations on any given day to arrive at deeper levels of awareness and atunement to spirit.  More than a spiritual practice on the Yoga mat, Kripalu Yoga is a lifestyle in which the principles of Yoga are applied off the mat in daily life.  This mixed level class offers a range of posture variations to challenge each student to play with the balance between will and surrender.

Intermediate Kripalu - This class introduces advanced pranayama and guides students into a deeper exploration of the practice of yoga. We'll experiment with longer holdings of poses to cultivate inner awareness and use variations of the Sun Salutation for strength and flexibility.

Beginner/Intermediate - the next step for students wanting to expand their exposure to asana practice to include more varied and slightly more energetic postures with an emphasis on alignment and breath.

Intermediate/Advanced - a more challenging class for experienced students as well as beghinners with a higher fitness level to explore more ambitious standing and seated asanas, inversions and balance postures.

Workshops and Special Events - dates and times vary. more...
